Fancourt treats elderly
Fancourt hotel spread Mandela Day magic at Rosemoor Old Age Home on Tuesday 18 July. The Rosemoor Old Age Home is an accommodation facility for the impoverished, aged members of the George community. Fancourt honored the
67 years Nelson Mandela devoted to working for human rights and social injustices by providing maintenance and general upkeep to the home in the weeks leading up to Mandela Day, topping it with lunch and entertainment on the day. Fancourt sent a delegation to the home where they, along with the residents and children from the Thembalethu Square Development Programme, were first treated to a concert of popular songs played on a variety of instruments, courtesy of musician and musicologist Dr Ronell van Aswegen and her talented musicians. As a special project, the Rosemoor ICU room received a face-lift, including fresh paint on the walls courtesy of Phoenix Painters, repurposed curtains courtesy of Kommaweer Upholsterers and Curtaining, and new furniture and wall hangings donated by Fancourt. Keeping it truly South African, the Fancourt chefs prepared a scrumptious braai for lunch. "Fancourt continues to strive towards a positive contribution to the social upliftment of the community," says Peter Dros, head of sales and marketing at Fancourt. "We are inspired by the values that drove Mandela throughout his life.”
