New GO GEORGE bus stop at Outeniqua High School

-

GO GEORGE has announced the implementation of a new trial bus stop in front of Outeniqua High School as from Wednesday 20 September. This bus stop will be known as the Outeniqua stop and will be developed into a permanent bus stop should it improve traffic flow sufficiently.

According to James Robb, GO GEORGE manager, the decision to erect a trial bus stop at the school was made to relieve traffic congestion at the Wellington bus stop higher up the road, near the intersection of Wellington and Courtenay Streets.

"GO GEORGE will always be an evolving and adapting public transport system. Based on feedback from passengers and relevant role players, the service is constantly refined to suit the needs of passengers and to meet operational challenges," he said.

From Wednesday 20 September, only the following routes will stop at the Wellington stop:

1A New Dawn Park - CBD 1B Harmony Park - CBD 60 Rosedale - CBD

60A Syferfontein/Rosedale - CBD

The following routes will stop at the Outeniqua stop:

Platform A: 1A New Dawn Park - CBD 1B Harmony Park - CBD

60 Rosedale - CBD

60A Syferfontein/Rosedale - CBD Platform B:

24 CBD - Loerie Park - Garden Route Mall

53 Rosemoor

53B Rosemoor Express

9 Industria - CBD

Outeniqua stop only transfer point for certain routes

Passengers should take note that those wanting to board or transfer to routes 24 (CBD - Loerie Park - Garden Route Mall), 53 (Rosemoor), 53B (Rosemoor Express) and 9 (Industria - CBD), should wait at the new Outeniqua stop Platform B, since these buses will no longer stop at the Wellington stop.

"On top of being a solution to the challenge experienced at the Wellington stop, we also expect that a large number of passengers, like the Outeniqua High School learners, will find this new stop more convenient and better suited to their needs," said Robb.

All road users are requested to be patient and considerate towards buses using the new stop, which will be an in-lane stop to ensure its easy and smooth movement back into traffic.
