Blanco’s Red House

Youth For Christ (YFC) Kidstop Project Director, Jonathan Gelderbloem:

Youth for Christ has been running a residential programme for children living on the street as a service provider for the George Municipality since 2006 in the 'Red House' in George Road, Blanco.

During that time we have worked with six children at a time (who were found living on the street or were showing signs of going to the street) for various periods of time - some for three months, some for six months, and some a little longer. Our aim has been to build positive life skills, a love and respect for God, themselves and other people into the children, with the aim of rehabilitating them to their families and the community.

Youth for Christ would like to thank the George Municipality for the opportunity given to us to manage this programme over the past 10 years. Thanks especially to the municipal staff who were involved in the project.

We would also like to thank the community of Blanco for the support and encouragement given to the house mother and the children of the house during this time. We are grateful for the many children whose lives we were able to touch over the years and pray God's blessing on them.
