Man arrested for dagga

Police arrested a man for the possession of 870g of dagga at Ngcakani Road, Zone 5, Thembaleth­u on Tuesday 8 May. The dagga was discovered by members of the Eden cluster police crime combating team, during a search of the house.

The suspect, Mzimasi Mpetsheni (29), appeared at the Thembaleth­u Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 9 May and the case was postponed to 28 May for further investigat­ion.

The accused is out on a warning.

Acting station commander, Lieut-Col Mteto Sapepa, thanked the community for the informatio­n given to the police and urged them to continue doing so.

Police seizes dagga worth R30 000

The provincial police organised crime unit seized 3,055kg of dagga with a street value of R30 000 on Tuesday 8 May at Mbewu Street in Zone 9, Thembaleth­u. Following this, Nahayo Tiafilo (49), a Burundian male, and Sheryl Williams (30), a South African woman, were arrested for dealing in dagga. An undisclose­d amount of money was recovered.
