Journalist Jill Baker at U3A
U3A welcomes the return visit of the wellknown journalist Jill Baker, who will deliver a lecture entitled "The Horns" on Tuesday 21 August at Emmaüs.
Baker has completed her new book on the history of Zimbabwe from 1840 to
1965 with a fictional slant, but includes some fascinating material - from the almost savagery of the Matabele, to the lies and connivance of hunters and other colonialists of the settlement era.
Included is the history of the attempts by
Russia and China to destabilise the country.
Jill was a news reader and current affairs presenter on Zimbabwean television and radio for twenty years. She now lives in Australia, where she runs her own company that is a source of information to the media and government of Australia about the situation in Zimbabwe. In 2005 she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. Meet this popular personality and listen to another of her fascinating tales of Zimbabwe together with members of the U3A. Tea is at 10:00 and the meeting starts at 10:30. Admission is R5 for members and R10 for visitors.
