Le Grand steps into new exciting era
Since a new family recently joined as shareholder in the Le Grand Estate in Hansmoeskraal, activity has livened up and sales of plots have increased, even though prices have gone up.
The future looks rosy with the Gouws family from Pretoria having joined hands with the longtime managers of the estate, Johan and Kotie van der Merwe, for a winning partnership.
"We are excited about our new strategy to accelerate activity and expand. We have acquired trucks and machinery to facilitate building projects by private builders in the estate. In addition to the single residential stands, Le Grand offers affordable duet units consisting of: twobedrooms (132m2) from R 1 399 000 or threebedrooms (145m2) from R 1 499 000,” says Van der Merwe.
The Le Grand team also envisions being part of the solution for the ever increasing demand for water, electricity and waste water treatment facilities in the area. "We are negotiating with the French company Turnkey Water Solutions (TWS) and the French government with regard to the building of a desalination plant at Le Grand. They are involved in the plant that is to be officially opened at Witsand on 15 November. We will also include a waste plant."
TWS has prepared a preliminary plan for the plant. The desalination plant offers additional options such as waste water treatment, solar power, a composting facility and even possible hydro-electrical power generation.
The plant will make grey water available for flushing toilets, irrigation and gardening. Re-using treated water for these purposes generates an immediate saving of between 34% and 64% in the average water usage (about 235 litres per South African per day), without any need for a lifestyle change.
"The French government will be investing 50% of the project costs. Our other collaborators in this venture are Green Cape, Tristan Group, Mascara Renewable Water and Maskam Water. It is a truly innovative approach to sustainable water management," says Van der Merwe.
Located in the Hansmoeskraal area outside Pacaltsdorp, Le Grand offers a serene setting with spectacular views of the ocean and mountains.
