Pasa needs Georgians’ help
Freddy Trout, founder and chairman of People Against Substance Abuse (Pasa), has appealed to Georgians for donations in order for the organisation to keep its doors open.
Trout says in a written plea to the newspaper that they have always raised their own funds through various ways, including regular street collections and lucky draw competitions.
A number of local businesses have also supported them through monthly contributions. However, their own fund-raising activities as well as business support has come to a standstill because of the extended lockdown.
"We have already tried various ways to raise funds to be able to keep the doors open. Now we are appealing to the community of George for help by making a donation of as little as only R10. Every donation will be one step closer to helping us keep our doors open," says Trout.

Pasa, founded in 2006, has been working in the local community and at schools in George and elsewhere in the Garden Route to educate young people and parents on the topic of drug abuse. They have become known as the 'Go To' people for those who have a family member or a child who is abusing or addicted to drugs. Trout is well known as a counsellor for recovering drug addicts.
Pasa has recorded some greatly encouraging success stories of people's lives changed for the better. "Of course there wasn't always success, but we have always gone out of our way to help where we can, and we are still here to help parents who have children who are abusing drugs," says Trout.
Businesses who donate can be issued with an 18A tax letter as Pasa is a registered public benefit organisation.
