Local Motion raising funds for minibus
The non-profit organisation Local Motion is raising funds for its 2024 programme, and more specifically to buy a minibus to help with transport of the youngsters they work with.
Founded in 2020 by Georgian Sabrina Horn, a young woman who is passionate about the future of South Africa's youth, the organisation reaches out to young people in vulnerable communities through mentorship, skills training, extra classes and Bible studies. They also give youngsters an opportunity to develop their creative skills through art workshops and encourage an active lifestyle through outdoor activities such as surfing, swimming and adventure outings in nature.
Marco Sharp, a volunteer at Local Motion, says their aim is to create a space for youngsters where they feel they belong and to help them realise their own value.
"We also focus on the importance of work. Our goal is to see the kids employed after school, empowered and prepared for life. To this end we help them grow in their entrepreneurial skills and apply for jobs. We also organise internships at local businesses."
