The Stars shine bright on Bangalore
An impressive second-half performance helped Silver Stars to register a 2-0 victory against a limping Bangalore FC in a difficult Geolfa League game on Saturday afternoon, 17 February at the Thembalethu Stadium. The Silver Town-based side goals were converted by Asiphe Nkata and Liyema Nomdatya.
The game got off to a good start with Silver Stars building their passes from the back line. Both teams were looking very positive on the ball, playing it on the ground with skillful footwork. The first half was marked by one excellent drive by Bangalore FC from the right side of the field, but their shot was well defended. No goals were scored in the first half.
The second half started at a fast pace with both teams looking very sharp on the ball. Bangalore FC had their work cut out to defend the smart attacks from the Silver Stars wingers. Zovuyo Maduna of Bangalore managed to outsmart the Silver Stars left back, but his powerful strike went wide, missing the goal. Silver Stars players were pressing for their first goal, but Bangalore did not give way and they could not penetrate the defence.
