Led lighting is bright, efficient and lasts almost forever, but is it better than fluorescent lighting?

-

Sure, it’s the choice of most campers who keep up with changing technological trends, but some find LED lights to be glary, harsh on the eyes and cold in colour because of the blue- ish hue. Old- school fluorescent lighting, on the other hand, is well diffused, warm in colour and far more ambient. So which is better and is an LED automatically the top choice or does the fluorescent light still have something to offer outdoor travellers? It seems the decision has been made for you. These days, it’s almost impossible to buy a new 12V- fluorescent camping light. In fact, the only company that still manufactures these is National Luna, a South African- based company that specialises in 12V refrigeration, dual- battery systems and outdoor lighting. When LED technology hit the market, fluorescent sales dropped and the move to the new lighting was rapid. After several years of extensive research, development and product testing, National Luna launched its own 12V LED camping light. The unit was a great success, and much like its fluorescent product line, the company was heralded as a global leader in LED lighting. But don’t say farewell to fluorescent just yet. Despite its achievements in the LED market, National Luna believes fluorescent lights still have something to offer the outdoor market and it continues to manufacture a wide selection of 12V fluorescent lights.
