What does beauty mean to you? It’s about your spirit. Be happy and live the life you want to live. That’s what we try to convey in the Lancôme La Vie Est Belle campaigns, and that’s the key to looking your best.

Who taught you the most about beauty? My husband, Daniel Moder. I don’t know if you can put it into words, but that’s what your person does for you, in ways both clear and unclear.

Growing up, who did you consider to be beautiful? I thought my mother was very glamorous, with her frosted lipstick and eyeliner. But Elizabeth Taylor was probably the person in the spotlight I admired most. Her elegance and grace made her iconic. I mean, she’s spectacular; even through the kaftan years she was chic and decked out in jewels. She seemed to have it going on 24/7.

Is your beauty routine high- or low-maintenance? Low. I could definitely go a little higher. What product can’t you live without? [1] Lancôme Bi-facil Eye Makeup Remover (R380) is unbeatable. A lot of times you take off your eye makeup at night, and the next morning you wake up and look like you already put makeup on! But this formula gets rid of every stitch of makeup. For more than six years, it’s the one product I’ve used every day.

What’s been the best trick you’ve picked up over the years? Discovering the eyelash curler was a game changer. And learning how to do my hair, which just came from years of watching a master [ hairstylist Serge Normant]. I can’t do it as well as he does it, but I can still try.

Do you have a funny beauty moment? Trying to make peace with the ageing process. Realising that it’s going to happen whether I like it or not.

What was your worst makeup disaster ever? Nothing was worse than anyone who wore makeup in the ’80s! I did white concealer. Who does that? Tell us about your guilty pleasure I love to watch The Fixer. You know it’s a guilty pleasure when you’re watching your TV show and you hear someone come in so you turn it off and throw your remote across the room.

Is there one current beauty trend you’ve considered trying? The bob. I’ve always wanted super-short hair so I could have it pop and be cool, but Serge [Normant] is like, “I’m not doing this.” He won’t do the bob or anything. What hair and makeup look do you feel the most confident in? My signature loose waves and natural makeup. And a gnarly eyeliner. TRY [2] Lancome Liner Plume in Noir (R370).

What’s the one look you won’t try? Asymmetrical hair.

Do you find certain foods help you glow? I try to be conscious and eat organic foods and avoid gluten. It’s a bummer that eating healthily is a luxury.
