Kendall says the best advice she’s ever got came from her sisters. “There are so many of us. It’s like having 12 moms.”
From Kourtney “When I was 15, she said, ‘You should start using eye cream now.’ So I did. And she told me never to touch my face: ‘Don’t pick at anything on your face.’ That stuck with me.”
From Kylie “Kylie’s very glamazon; she loves the hair and the nails and the glam, so ‘more is more’ is definitely her tip. She always wants to do my makeup.”
From Khloé “When I was 15, I plucked my eyebrows off. There was only this little pencil line left. It was so awful, and Khloé freaked out and made me not touch them until they fully grew out, and then she took me to an eyebrow lady. Ever since then, I’ve been getting my brows done.”
From Kim “Kim likes Finesse Shampoo (not available in SA), and now, so do I. I’ve tried all the expensive things, too. It just works for my hair and makes it so silky. My hair has held up so much that every hairstylist has been like, ‘Why is your hair still so amazing?’ And I’m like, ‘I literally don’t do anything. I just use Finesse.’ And everyone’s like, ‘What?’”
Yet another key to Kendall’s appeal is that she’s not alienatingly cool. She doesn’t really drink alcohol (unless she’s “in Europe and it’s legal”). She likes to bake cupcakes, biscuits and “insane maple syrup scones from scratch.” She prizes neatness. “I’m ridiculously OCD,” she says. “Order gives me a complete feeling, like everything is good.”
Along with being shy, Kendall maintains that she was easily the “most awkward” of the Kardashian girls, but she seems pretty poised to us: despite people gawping at her through windows, she is serenely unconcerned. In fact, the only time her composure drops is when we ask her about her love life – she’s been linked to rapper A$AP Rocky. She falters, resembling any 21 year old explaining that it’s, you know, complicated. “I’m so young,” she says, fiddling with her hair. “Whoever I’m dating, or going to be dating, is young, too. So I don’t think it’s figured out. So if I don’t know what it is, I’d rather not let everyone else know.”
We change the subject to work, of which she has been doing non-stop. She recently found her first grey hair and attributed it to stress. “I’m off all next month, though,” she adds, heading off any impression that she is complaining. For, if nothing else, Kendall Jenner is a pro, through and through.
