Chanel’s Eiffel Tower

Chanel fans probably thought they’d seen it all when Karl Lagerfeld had a rocket lift off the runway at Paris Fashion Week this March.

But just four months later, the keeper of Coco’s tweed legacy upped the ante at Haute Couture week. This time he built a replica of the Eiffel Tower inside the Grand Palais in Paris. Its spire extended into fake clouds as if to suggest it had broken through the glass ceiling.

In the front row for this spectacle? Katy Perry, Cara Delevingne, Kristen Stewart, Claudia Schiffer and Mario Testino to name a few.

The set took six weeks to build and was the perfect complement to the collection, which was “all about cuts, shapes and silhouettes,” Karl said.
