Don’t you love Ansel Elgort?

He acts, he sings, he DJS – the Baby Driver star is totally deserving of your adoration.

-

it used to be hard to see Ansel Elgort as anything but the sweet teens he played in The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent. But as a mild-mannered getaway guy in the film Baby Driver, Ansel, now 23, is embracing manhood – and the wisdom that comes with it.

GLAMOUR Was it hard to play the strong and silent type?

ANSEL No, because I’ve been that guy. I’m talkative, but when I’m in a room with guys like Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx, I let them do the talking.

Were they tough on you?

Obviously you get made fun of, but guys always do that. It’s our way of not needing to talk behind each other’s backs.

What’s it like to play a guy named Baby?

I’m excited about it. But my girlfriend, Violetta [Komyshan], isn’t thrilled. She’s like, “Now I can’t call you that anymore.”

What’s changed for the two of you since you met in high school?

She’s been excited that her ballet company, Balletnext, is doing well. When she comes home glowing with confidence, that’s attractive. As you grow up, you realise all the little details of what makes you like somebody.
