Kaia Gerber on supermodel genes

Model Kaia Gerber, 16, has picked up beauty truths from her own career and her mom, supermodel Cindy Crawford ( just in case the brows weren’t a dead giveaway).

idon’t see myself as this cool model person. My mom and brother, Presley, model; even my dad, Rande, modelled when he was young (the pictures are so funny). For some reason I hadn’t thought of it as a legit career path for myself, but since I started, my mom has given me incredible advice.

Kaia shares her supermodelin-training beauty rules I never tweeze my eyebrows. I used to wax them, but my mom was like, “You need to stop.” Now I try to just let them be, and I barely do anything except for combing them, occasionally using a gel, and trimming them once in a while because I want to have brows like my mom’s when I’m 50! And, honestly, some days are better than others.

My off-duty hair rule: don’t touch it!

When I’m not working and doing drastic looks, I literally do nothing to my hair – no heat and no styling products – to give my strands a rest.

I don’t fuss with skin care

My mom’s advice was to take care of my skin but never to overdo it. I just wash my face and put on sunscreen, which is the biggest thing for me, and that’s it. I love everything by Skinceuticals but especially their tinted sunscreen.

I follow my mom’s makeup mantra of less-is-more

I use liquid highlighter for a natural glow, and sometimes when I’m going out, I’ll do something fun like blue eyeliner. (Normally, I would never think of using blue eyeliner, but the Marc Jacobs makeup artists I worked with made it look so cool. Follow their tips below.)

I’ve been obsessed with fragrance forever

When I was a kid, I used to go into my mom’s room, spray on layers of her perfume and walk through the house. My family couldn’t deal. I would bathe myself in it! I was just fascinated by the pretty bottles and experience. My mom eventually bought me empty vintage fragrance atomisers that I would fill with water, so I could pretend to be spritzing on perfume all the time. Now, even though I’m a tomboy, wearing jeans and sneakers every day, I’m really drawn to floral scents like Marc Jacobs Daisy (R1 585) (of which I am the face). They remind of being in nature, and I also associate them with my childhood.
