Why we still love oils

This is not a fad! The oil obsession continues – and with good reason.

-

They’re great on all skin types. Yes, even oily ones!

The newest oils are lightweight, absorb quickly and don’t clog your pores. If you’re prone to breakouts, go for an oil with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial ingredients like lavender. Antioxidant oils like rosehip help promote collagen, keeping you looking younger for longer. Oil cleansers wash away excess sebum, so they’re terrific at mattifying oily skin and removing makeup.

They work well with your other products

Especially your moisturiser. Always apply your facial cream first otherwise the moisturiser won’t be able to penetrate. Then add the oil to help ‘fill in’ the holes of your skin’s moisture barrier. This prevents moisture loss, maintains hydration and gives your skin added softness.

They act as the ultimate nourisher for your hair

On your locks, oils are super multitaskers: they condition, add shine and protect. Look out for argan, jojoba and sunflower for a shine boost and scalp pampering. Or try coconut oil for deep moisturisation. Simply work a tablespoon amount evenly through your strands. Bonus: the oil also creates a protective barrier over your tresses to stop your colour from fading.

They diminish the appearance of cellulite

Look out for antioxidant-rich oils which, when rubbed into the area, can help with the appearance of dimpled skin and stretch marks. Plus, daily application helps balance your endocrine and nervous systems, decreasing stress levels.
