DO it for the passion

Radio and TV presenter Kyeezi gives us a peak into his wardrobe – and his secret obsessions.

-

Cape Town-based Khanya Siyengo is making a name for himself nationally through his radio and TV persona Kyeezi. Starting off on campus radio at the University of the Western Cape, he soon moved on to popular Cape Town station Good Hope FM and subsequently to SA’S biggest urban station, Metro FM.

Standing at an impressive 1.96m, Kyeezi’s personality is as tall as he is, which is one of the reasons why he made it all the way to the top five in SABC 3’s Presenter Search, ultimately landing a gig for the channel’s reality competition show Win A Home.

Passionate about all things new and trendy, Kyeezi describes himself as something of an urban culture devotee, and here, he gets candid with us about one of his favourite topics: fashion.

Who are your style icons?

Jay-z, P Diddy and Da LES. They know how to keep it street, and kill a suit with ease, while maintaining their identity.

Winter or summer?

Winter. Bring out the bomber jackets and hoodies; I love layering. Also, I hate my legs, so I get to hide things quite successfully.

How many sneakers do you have?

About 32 pairs. It’s an addiction. Please don’t judge me.

What was your biggest fashion fail?

I was once forced into a suit that was way too small and cut at my ankle. Plus, I had somehow forgotten my socks.

Describe your style in one word.

Street.

What is your signature fragrance?

Marc Jacobs Men.

What are your money-saver tips?

Don’t buy generic. Look for items that work for your body and taste. I like white T-shirts, and I mix and match them with cool trousers. Also, I don’t go shopping every month. I’d rather save up and get something that I really want, that way, when I finally get my hands on it, it’s like a reward.
