Crossing all the t’s
The T-cross, which is the latest Volkswagen SUV released in South Africa, is practical and versatile.
It’s sophisticated, diverse and, like all other members of the brand’s SUV family, it’s eye-catching. The T-cross carefully balances casual style, refined practicality, and it’s cost-effective.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
What makes this car attractive is the successful combination of a powerfully expressive front spoiler and a large, wide radiator grille that has headlamps integrated into its outer ends. Framed by a black-trim panel, it’s an easily recognisable feature at its front end. A light band emphasises the width of the vehicle, and at the same time signals its presence and vitality. Its large wheel arches emphasise its striking appearance, and it has dynamically designed wheels, which also contribute to the distinctive and cool look of the new T-cross. Sixteen-inch wheels are fitted as standard, but 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels are also an option. The exterior of the T-cross can also be customised in numerous ways. There’s a choice of nine colours or a selection of coloured wheel rims that enhance its styling.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The T-cross provides great visibility, thanks to its high seat configuration. The interior’s extremely spacious, giving up to five occupants the feeling that they’re sitting in a larger vehicle. The luggage compartment holds between 377 and 455 litres. Its largeformat dash pads correspond in colour and structure to its seat materials, steering-wheel clasp, central console, platinum-grey trim and finishes on the exterior. This gives the interior of the vehicle a sporty appearance. The design package also offers 3D décor for the dash pad, two-tone seat surfaces, a steering-wheel clasp and central console in a matching tone, and colourcoordinated wing mirrors and wheels. Indirect, ambient lighting accentuates the vehicle’s interior.
MORE DIGITALISED
The T-cross provides discerning users with the highest level of networking and connection to the outside world. Even the operation and customisation of its on-board functions are intuitive. Up to four USB ports and the option of adding inductive, wireless charging ensures optimum connectivity and sufficient power for smartphones. Optional keyless locking and starting system Keyless Access makes access to the T-cross more convenient. Another highlight is the optional sound system from renowned US brand Beats, which has a 300-Watt, eight-channel amplifier and a separate subwoofer in the luggage compartment.
DRIVER ASSISTANCE
The Driver Alert System comes as standard, while optional equipment available on the T-cross includes Front Assist, an area-monitoring system, the lane-keeping assistant Lane Assist, Hill Start Assist, a proactive occupant protection system, automatic adaptive cruise control, Park Assist and the Blind Spot Detection lane-change assist system integrated with Rear Traffic Alert.
