AN ENGINE FOR CHOBE

-

Echo4x4 is known for its off-road trailers and caravans as well as their wide variety of canvas tents. After the company recently expanded their operations and built its first motorhome, it now has a unique approach: Clients can bring their single cab bakkies and Echo will fit its off-road caravan to the chassis of the bakkie. The Chobe, Echo’s newest off-road caravan, launched late last year. It’s already popular because it’s small and perfect for a couple. And instead of having only one bed that folds out over the A-frame, you can get another double bed that folds out of the right-hand side panel – perfect for a small family. From a manufacturer’s point of view it’s a clever design, especially because clients have more choice. The Chobe’s body fits like a glove onto a bakkie – and the bakkie’s length isn’t affected. The motorhome is called the Chobe RV, and is intended only for couples because there is only one double bed – the one that folds out of the righthand side panel (the bakkie’s cabin takes up the space of the other bed). The Chobe RV comes standard with a 70 ℓ water tank (which includes a pump), a kitchen with crockery, mugs, and even whisky glasses (six of everything), a fire extinguisher, power system (that includes an Echo 80 Ah double battery system), and even an Echo braai grid that fits over the spare wheel. What is optional? Among other things a 150 W solar panel R7 780, 20 ℓ microwave oven (700 W) R1 195, 3 kg gas bottle R550, side panels for the canopy R6 850, and geyser R2 895. The figures 2,415 (l) x 1,84 m(w) – the body of the Chobe. Price R191 480 (labour included). Contact 012 345 3333; echoacc@echo4x4.co.za; echo4x4.co.za
