We tow a 2004 Sprite Swing with our 2009 model Tata Xenon 3.0 bakkie, and I can honestly say it’s an excellent combination. I don’t experience any problems with the Tata and the Swing follows obediently. I tow comfortably at 120 km/h, because the bakkie’s maximum power comes out at 2 000 rpm. The fuel consumption ranges from 8–9 ℓ/100 km without the caravan and 10–11 ℓ/100 km with it on the bar. However, I don’t always tow at 120 km/h and prefer to keep things closer to 100 km/h. But I have caught myself doing 140 km/h. The bakkie makes towing a pleasure and I think it can be chalked up to the rear wheels sitting further back than on other bakkies. I don’t use a stabiliser, because the caravan doesn’t really swerve, even when I overtake a truck.
