DAY 1

Our adventure through the Kalahari begins as we settle in at our first campsite – Twee Rivieren in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.

DAYS 2 AND 3

We pack up and leave for Nossob Camp, where we stay for the next two nights. On our way, we visit the Auchterlonie Museum with displays of the park’s history. When we arrive at camp, our pitched tents, as well as coffee and tea, will be waiting. After a light breakfast, you can choose to either explore the camp or do a game drive. The waterhole at the campsite is sure to provide some entertaining moments.

DAYS 4 AND 5

After an early rise and light breakfast, we head north, crossing the Nossob River into the Botswana section of the park and towards the Kaa gate. It’s a beautiful day’s drive through spectacular dune fields. In the afternoon, we enter the community concession. We spend the next two days travelling through one of the wildest places in Southern Africa. The roads consist of twin tracks, cutlines and bush drives through the savannah and red Kalahari sands. The area is renowned for its low-lying pans, where giant eland, springbok, gemsbok and the famous Kalahari lions come to quench their thirst. Game has free access to a wilderness area more than twice the size of the Kruger National Park. Apart from rustic vehicle tracks, there is nothing else man-made, not even light pollution, so the night skies will take your breath away. During our two days’ stay, we will be joined by a qualified community Bushman guide who will share his stories, knowledge, and history of the area and his people with us. We will be camping wild alongside two magnificent salt pans, listening to the sounds (and the silence) of the night time wild.

DAYS 6 AND 7

After an early start, we make our way to the Botswana village of Hukuntsi in the northern part of the concession, where we will replenish our water and fuel supplies. We then head south to Mabuasehube on the Botswana side of the park, where we spend two nights at the same campsite on the edge of Mabua Pan. Get ready for spectacular sunsets and days spent game viewing in an area known for lion, leopard, cheetah, honey badger and brown hyena sightings.

DAY 8

After a last breakfast, we pack up and head for home, travelling together on sandy cutlines to the small town of Tshabong where we say our goodbyes.
