Close encounter
We visited the Kruger National Park recently where we stayed in one of Lower Sabie’s bungalows. One day we drove past the Ntandanyathi hide on our way to Crocodile Bridge. Here we saw a peculiar thing: A few blue wildebeest standing together on the riverbank, looking restless. I then spotted a crocodile in the water. One of the wildebeest walked into the water. Meanwhile, I’m watching events through my Canon 650D with a 55-250 mm lens. As the wildebeest started to jump, I began taking pictures, and I managed to capture the animal’s bravery on quite a few shots. I’m not an expert photographer; I just take pictures for fun. But it’s not every day that you get to see a wildebeest survive a situation like that – and manage to capture it on film!
