Go! Drive & Camp

PITCH PERFECT

Not everyone appreciates the fine art of assembling a tent in the dying light of day. For those who don’t, these seven budget-friendly pop-up tents are like a dream come true.

Call them instant or pop-up: these tents have become all the camping rage. They’re popular with casual campers on a weekend getaway as well as hardened bush veterans with calloused hands. Let’s face it: few of us enjoy putting a puzzle of poles and pegs together after a long drive getting to our destination. We’ve assembled some of the more affordable, widely available options on the local market. They’re priced from just under R600 for something that can comfortably sleep a single person with luggage, to a five-sleeper for R2 400 that takes only a few minutes to set up fully on your own.
