AIRBAG JACK

-

The airbag jack’s origin lies with underwater lifting bags that divers use to bring heavy objects from the ocean floor up to the surface. We don’t know who first thought of applying it to vehicles, but it was a logical step. Some people like an airbag, others hate it. The advantages are that, thanks to a large “foot”, it works well in sand and mud and can’t fall over (and lead to injuries). The disadvantages are that it can bend vehicle parts made of soft metals – like silencers and long-distance tanks – if you inflate in the wrong place. It can also tear if it presses against a sharp object underneath your vehicle. The biggest complaint, however, is that airbags take up a lot of space in your vehicle and you need two, even three people to use it: one to hold the hose against the tailpipe and another to position the bag. If you’re considering an airbag, look for the type that works with both your vehicle’s exhaust pipe and a compressor.
