I reached my camp at Tierkloof late in the afternoon. A thunderstorm was approaching, its winds pushing a sliver of a rainbow ahead of icy clouds. The orange glow of the setting sun seemed to wilt before the ominous weather. When the sun relented and hid behind the horizon, the storm claimed victory and all hell broke loose.
