HOW TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR TENT

Double flooring. Pitch your tent on a groundsheet, even if the tent is fitted with a PVC floor. In this way, you won’t get any mud or dirt on the tent floor that can soil your tent when you pack it up again after your stay.

Plan B. If you don’t have an extra piece of canvas or a groundsheet, pitch the tent on a clean surface, like paving or grass. Also avoid stepping on the canvas section when folding it away.

Forget about high-pressure cleaning equipment. Never use high-pressure equipment to clean your tent. It spells disaster for the tent’s material.

A bird in hand. Birds perch and make nests in trees, so tents pitched in the shade are often bespattered with youknow-what. Trees such as thorn trees can also soil tents with their gum.

It also has a soul. Keep open flames, concentrated cleaning agents and

soaps as well as insecticides and deodorants away from tent canvas.

Cook on the other side. Never prepare food near or immediately next to the tent. Oil splattering from the food will leave spots on the canvas

Beware of rust. Keep your tent pegs separate from the tent itself. They can cause damage to the canvas and even leave rust stains.

Stay off the cement. Don’t store your tent on a concrete or cement surface – it allows the canvas to draw moisture. Store it on a shelf some distance from the floor.
