Everything you need to know about your caravan’s coupler

Most caravans built before or during 2009 have a cast-iron coupling head, but some of the newer ones are fitted with a steel head that simply slips over the tow bar. Steel couplings need little maintenance, but a bit of Q20 lubricant on the spring underneath is generally a good idea. Cast-iron coupling heads require more attention, because they have a shaft that slides underneath the head to secure it to the ball of your vehicle’s tow bar.
