One-year milestone for ‘dream daycare’

-

TWEENIES Corner Educare Centre celebrates its first anniversary this week – a dream come true.

“Running my own daycare has been a dream for a very long time. After having my third child in 2010, and going back to work after five months’ maternity leave, I started doing research on how to go about realising my dream,” Tweenies Corner owner Renata Block said.

In 2013, after “much deliberation, intense soul searching and the support of my husband”, she decided to quit the corporate world and “take the bull by the horns” and live her dream.

“We started the extensions for the school and sought the relevant approvals from the local municipality, which included the health depart- ment, traffic department and town planning,” Block explained.

“I did a short course – ‘The Basic Educare Teachers’ Training Course’ – which I obtained a distinction for, through Lynn Hobbs. This provided me with the minimum qualification to teach the kids as well. This course is also Seta accredited,” Block said.

Tweenies opened last October, with just one child enrolled. By the end of last year, they only grew with an additional three kids.

This, however, did not deter Block from her goal as this year has proven to be fruitful with a total of 20 kids enrolled to date.

“We have two amazing nannies whom the kids absolutely adore. We live up to our motto of offering kids a warm, loving, homely, yet very stimulating and safe environment.”

They enrol kids from the age of 12 months up to six years.

“I have no doubt that next year we will be even bigger, as Tweenies is fast becoming a household name, especially in the Haven Hills area where we are situated,” Block concluded.
