FASHIONISTA MEN TO KICK ABUSE TO CURB
A GROUP of young male professionals are collecting blankets and warm winter clothes to donate to a needy charity or home.
Gents in Couture is a made up of males from different fields – businessmen, students and professionals – who got together to raise awareness about drugs, kidnapping and children and women abuse.
Collins English Dictionary describes the French word “couture” as “the design and manufacture of fashionable clothes to a client’s specific requirements and measurements. Fashionable made-to-measure clothes.”
One of the founders of the group, Jones Mortey, said their main aim was to make a difference in the East London community and hopefully go national with it.
“Project Thermo [collecting and distributing warm clothes and blankets] is just one of the projects we intend on doing. We’ll be working on different projects which will be revealed at a later stage.
“For now we urge people to help us make a difference. We can collect wherever you are. Blankets, unwanted jerseys and jackets will all make a difference in someone else’s life this winter,” he said.
The guys recently gathered in Oxford Street wearing three-piece suits with brogues and pointy shoes to bring a new meaning to what it really means to be a man in East London.
“The photo shoot we had in Oxford Street symbolised that we are against any form of abuse and we were taking our stand. It also helped us grow because we now have 28 000 likes on Facebook,” Mortey said.
