The Cows go wild for Choc

- QHAMANI LINGANI

THE Cows from around the country united in raising funds for Choc (Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa) by walking through the Wild Coast from Gonubie.

The Cows are a group of people who raise funds Choc for children and families affected by cancer.

All funds raised are used for the Choc projects as agreed for the year.

The two-day run, walk or meander along the Wild Coast started at the Gonubie River mouth and onward along the coast to Crawford’s Beach Lodge in Chintsa, where participants rested their weary legs on Friday night. Then on Saturday, bright and early, they moved from Chintsa to their final destination on the cliffs high above Morgan Bay.

The Go-Chi-Mor Trail (GonubieChintsa-Morgan’s Bay), as it is called, was started last year by Garrick Faul and Stuart Lustgarten.

Faul said when they started last year they were only doing it for fun and not as a fundraiser.

“But this year we started looking for charities and we approached Gordon Reid, who recommended Choc to us and we thought, why not; because cancer affects everyone,” Faul said.

He said they did not experience any challenges last year and hoped the event it would be a smooth adventure going forward.

Joined by 87 more people who took on this adventurous trek, The Cows’s Gordon Reid said: “This is what The Cows are about, we raise money for Choc.

“When I first heard about it, it sounded like fun and a great way to see old friends and just enjoy each other’s company and at the same time raise much needed funds for Choc,” he said.

Choc regional manager Debbie Kleinenberg said they were always happy to receive financial support from The Cows and the public as a whole.
