AFTER opening his first business in King William's Town 22 years ago, local optometrist, Goolam Peer,46, is happy to introduce his latest optometry practice, which is located in the Spargs SuperSPAR shopping complex in Beacon Bay.

Since 1995, PEER Optometrist has steadily grown to four outlets between East London and King William's Town and employs 14 full-time staff members.

He said at first it was a challenge to gain access to funding for his business but he never gave up.

He kept knocking on doors until his big break came along in the mid-90s and managed to open his first practice.

“I just love coming to work everyday, Peer said.

“I enjoy all sides of the business, especially interacting with our patients – many who are regular customers that I have been serving for years.”

The father of four, who is dedicated to his family and community said his services were of the highest quality.

“We try our best to provide quality at an affordable price for our patients, that is why we have been around for so long.

“We pay extra attention to our customers’ needs,” he said.

Peer, who lives in Beacon Bay, said his 18-year-old daughter had followed in his footsteps and was studying optometry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, which is where he also studied.

Members of the public are welcome to visit the PEER Optometrist practices in Beacon Bay and on Oxford Street in East London.
