INSIDE: CODE BLUE SECURITY FUN RUN
HOSTING their first safety run last week Saturday, Code Blue Security will be offering this guarded run service to the Beacon Bay community for the rest of the month.
The pilot project sees Code Blue reaction officers as well as patrol cars join in on the run in an effort to ensure the safety of runners, joggers and walkers.
The run takes place every Saturday morning from 5.30am to 6.30am starting at the Code Blue offices on Bonza Bay Road.
The 7.2km route will take runners down Bonza Bay road to the Bonza Bay Beach and back to the Code Blue offices.
Runners can choose how far they would like to go and turn back at any time as patrol cars are stationed all along the route.
“The Code Blue Safety Run concept is to promote safety in Beacon Bay for runners. This is not a race or timed event, no cost is involved and you do not have to have a Code Blue alarm to be able to make use of these services,” explained Code Blue marketing and social media consultant, Alisha le Grange.
The first Code Blue Safety race has received a great response with various positive comments from the public.
Beacon Bay Crime Board admin member, Anthony Verwey said: “This is a great initiative from Code Blue to take advantage of. Attacks on runners are becoming more frequent so we need to change the way we do things”.
Code Blue hopes to continue offering this service to the community and eventually offer more guarded runs during the week as well as expanding the initiative to other areas around the city.
The next Code Blue Safety Run will take place on Saturday.
