BRICK PURCHASE LEADS TO EXCITING BAKKIE WIN

- By Desmond Coetzee

WHEN Thobeka Gxekwa entered the Fort Beaufort Stutt Group branch to purchase bricks some time last year, she never imagined that she was destined to become the instant winner of a brand new vehicle.

On Saturday, the unemployed woman’s name was drawn as the winner of a Ford Ranger 2.2 Super Cab bakkie, valued at R350 000, at the Stutt Group main branch in King William’s Town.

“I bought 700 bricks from our Stutt Group branch last year and was advised by a friendly staff member to drop my till slip in the competition box. Today, I was totally at a loss for words when I won. All I can say is that God still works miracles as He answered my prayer early this morning before leaving home to be here in King,” Gxekwa said, who unfortunately does not have a driver’s licence.

“I’m thrilled and give Him all the glory for this precious gift which I will keep and always treasure.”

Fort Beaufort Stutt Group branch supervisor Tersia Hamman was also on cloud nine that one of their customers has come through to put their branch on the map.

Stutt Group marketing manager Brad Johnson said the promotion started on November 15 last year and was open to all customers making a purchase at any of the four branches in Alice, Fort Beaufort, King William’s Town and Stutterheim.

“During the course of the four months, we had four events where two finalists were drawn and placed into today’s draw which gave them a further chance for our main prize of the bakkie.”

“The promotion forms part of our social responsibility programme where we strive to give back and show our loyalty to our customers.”

The day was highlighted with a variety of entertainment and give-aways in which SABC Trufm presenter Makosandile “Boyz” Mpunzi was instrumental in keeping the vibe alive.
