NTT VW looking to consolidate lead

Affordable kart racing day for all

-

THE S2R Corporate Karting Series heads to the Border Kart Circuit for round two on Saturday.

Current log leaders, the NTT Volkswagen Team, will be looking to consolidate their lead over the second-placed Unified Properties Team, and last year’s champions, Cool Cubed Racing, in third place after round one. Newcomers, Gordon Thompson’s Team ISRI will be hoping for a strong debut. The entire field has switched to a new brand of tyres, which will ensure closer racing.

The teams which are quickest to adapt their style to the different characteristics of the tyres will be looking to get the jump on the opposition.

The affordable series is growing in popularity as it is aimed at encouraging newcomers into the sport, and offers one of the most affordable means for any enthusiasts to go racing.

Organisers Stephen 2 Racing have packages tailored to suit all needs – from the serious contenders wanting to own their own racing karts, to those teams wanting to try out on a once-off basis renting for the day.

Race day consists of open practice, a beginners’ race and a ladies’ race, with qualifying for the main event being at 1pm. The main race commences at 2pm and is a one-hour long-endurance event in which teams are required to make a minimum of three pitstops.

Up to four drivers share a kart, the theory being to give each driver about 15 minutes behind the wheel in each of the two heats.
