Support for surprise clinic outreach
AS a part of their commitment to ensure that communities take greater responsibility for their health, the Breidbach Clinic made a surprise visit to two of their catchment areas and provided primary heath care services.
During the visit to Acorn Valley and Qalashe Village, more than 30 babies and children received medical attention and deworming tablets followed by a nutrition screening.
Professional nurse Sister Brazie Genade said the aim of the outreach was basically focused on children and to hold a baby clinic for children between the ages of 0 and 6.
“Many children from these areas such as Acorn Valley and Qalashe do not attend the clinic for regular immunisation, hence we have decided to go to them.
“We also tried to locate some of the chronic clients to follow-up on their medication [clients who have failed to arrive for their visits] and we managed to trace them with the assistance of our clinic committee members and the community.”
Area ward committee and clinic committee member Tully Winnaar said they had a responsibility to promote and encourage communities to take greater responsibility for their own health and those of their children.
Acorn Valley community member Kayleigh Cumming commended the clinic on the visit.
Qalashe-based Khanyisa Day Care Centre principal Nokrimesi Ngalo said the pupils at the centre had been immunised last month but that she was thankful for the visit of the Breidbach Clinic.
