SPCA’s call for aid
Participate in ‘Tin Can Challenge’ food drive
HELP the King William’s Town SPCA feed animals housed at its kennels by participating in the Tin Can Challenge during the month of April.
SPCA’S Annette Rademeyer said the challenge was aimed at helping the KWT SPCA with tinned food for dogs and cats, thus saving it money which could be used to buy food for the other animals which are also receiving care.
“We do not only look after cats and dogs but we also have horses, pigs, ducks and chickens in need of care,” Rademeyer said.
“Currently, we spend about R10 000 every week. “Buying food and collecting tins will help us save money. Fodder costs about R130 per bale.” Rademeyer said as it was easier for businesses and individuals to buy tinned food, it was decided to host the challenge this month.
An invitation has been sent out to businesses, schools and families to try and collect as many cans of dog and cat food as possible.
“At the end of April, drop your collected tins at the SPCA,” she said.
The company, school etc. which collect the most tins will benefit from advertising on a board to be erected at the SPCA as a sign of gratitude.
Further information is available from Rademeyer on (043) 643-6008 during office hours.
