GET READY FOR DALEYGAMES -
OWNER of local fitness business DaleyGainz, Dale Fraser, will be hosting a fundraising event for the non-profit organisation Loaves and Fishes Network at Baysville High School on Saturday.
The fundraiser, aptly named DaleyGames, will take the form of a team-based event in which teams of four will have to battle it out performing different exercises in the fastest time in order to gain the most points. Teams will also have to make it through an obstacle course.
The day will have participants take part in skipping rope runs, tyre flipping, frog jumps and much more, with the obstacle course offering a fun challenge.
Participants will have to get through obstacles which include a wall climb, crawling through cargo nets and slime tunnels, as well as building a jigsaw puzzle.
There will also be a junior obstacle course and kids as young as six can participate and enjoy obstacles, such as Superman Steps, Batman’s Balance Beams and Lava Girls Lair.
“There will be great prizes up for grabs,” said Fraser.
Based in East London, the Loaves and Fishes Network works with children affected by poverty, violence and HIV/Aids.
Their core mission is to provide holistic childcare training, development and appropriate facilities in an effort to encourage parent and community participation in the care and wellbeing of their children.
More than 1 200 children receive two meals a day through the organisation, with 30 rural play schools benefitting from the organisation’s programmes.
“We do not receive support from the government, so we rely heavily on local companies, sponsors, donors and initiatives such as DaleyGames to survive and ensure our success,” said Loaves and Fishes Network chairman Brendan Connellan.
Fraser hopes to raise R20 000 for the organisation, as well as collect as much food as possible.
