Lions club answers churches’ prayers
Outreach donates clothes to group in Acorn Valley
THEIR weekly prayer session turned out to be a special one for a group of “sisters” of the combined churches in Acorn Valley when the King arrived just as the prayer session began, opened the boot of the car and began handing out bags of clothing to the grateful group.
According to Moses, the clothing was donated by the family of the late Theresa Rose, better known to the William’s Town Lions Club in support of the Breidbach Seniors Club, donated clothing to them.
The venue where they usually conduct their prayer meetings was burgled recently but that did not negatively affect their spirit. They decided to have an open-air prayer service on the sports grounds.
Peter Moses and Breidbach senior Janet McPherson unexpectedly King community as “Aunt Tjoepie”, who requested that her belongings be distributed among the needy people of Acorn Valley.
“Aunt Tjoepie was a pillar of the King community, always assisted at our monthly soup kitchen which operates at the Old Clinic building in Breidbach and we are basically here today to fulfil her wishes,” said Moses.
In leading the group of about 30 people, Belinda Johnson said the kindness and generosity of the Lions Club was much appreciated. “This is not just a coincidence, my beloved sisters in Christ – our Lord Jesus Christ is still doing miracles and He has sent these people here to bless us with this gesture today,” Johnson said. “Let us never doubt His capabilities and thank Him every time of the day for His grace and keep the Lions and the Seniors Club members in our daily prayers to keep on doing the good work.”
Grieta Jacobs, 67 said: “I will treasure this gift I received here today for the rest of my life, thank you so much Lions Club”.
Another beneficiary is Eunice Mbawako who also expressed her gratitude to the Lions Club and mentioned they will further distribute the clothing to the less fortunate.
