THE 2018 Inspiration Awards finalists were recently announced in anticipation of the Inspiration Awards Breakfast taking place on May 17. Out of 50 submissions, the judges had a tough time selecting four deserving do-gooders to present their stories and receive funds for their projects.

The four finalists are: Enkazimulweni Ncedani Life Centre, Siyakholwa Development Foundation, Sustainable Coffee Bay and l Daniel Boucher, who was selected from the Inspiration Awards’ inaugural Inspiring Youth Schools Campaign.

From caring for children in need to focusing on environmental sustainability, these four finalists have gone above and beyond to inspire, motivate and aid their communities.

Enkazimulweni Ncedani Life Centre is a home for abused, abandoned and/or HIV infected children run by Duncan Village local Nonkululeko Maneli.

Founded by Brian and Jeri du Plessis, Siyakholwa Development Foundation aims to restore belief and hope in poorer communities in order to break the cycle of poverty.

Sustainable Coffee Bay started out as a small community-based project operating fromthe Coffee Shack Backpackers and has grown to assist and support the Coffee Bay area and surrounding villages through various education programmes and activities.

Stirling Primary school pupil Daniel Boucher came up with the idea of an eco-brick recycling station at school to minimise plastic waste.

Each of the finalists have received R40 000 for their cause and will have an opportunity to present their inspiring story at the Inspiration Awards Breakfast, where they will also stand a chance to be awarded further funds by various delegates. At least 20 other entrants will also receive special awards on the day from various partners.

“The event is designed to celebrate the work individuals and organisations are doing in our communities, as well as to create opportunities for NGOs, government, and businesses to collaborate in their efforts towards promoting good in our society,” organiser Brad Taylor said.

Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased at Vodacom4U, in Pearce Street, Berea. For more information on the finalists and the Inspiration Awards, visit
