GRADE 9 pupils from various high schools in East London gathered at Buffalo City College on Friday for an informative session on career guidance hosted by Community Action Africa (CAA).

CAA is a non-profit organisation geared towards supporting and guiding youth to improve academic grades.

The NPO looks specifically at maths, science and English subjects.

CAA director Musa Sebugwawo said this session was meant to provide career guidance to pupils before selecting their subjects for grade 10.

“We want to help young people prepare for the future through extra lessons, debates, public speaking and motivational talks,” Sebugwawo said.

Guest speaker Dhaaramch Singh highlighted how important subject choice and education are in order to get into the right career path.

“Education is the key for a better life for all, it enhances the possibility of getting a job. It also opens up opportunities for entrepreneurship.”

He said that one must keep abreast of all developments and training.

Higher institutions of learning had stalls giving information on the career paths that they offer.

Walter Sisulu University (WSU) also made a presentation of the range of diplomas, degrees, and certificates it offers.
