Inkwenkwezi marries safaris and weddings

-

Award-winning Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve, just 30km outside East London, has built up a reputation in SA and overseas for its wildlife safaris where visitors can see the big five, including its incredible pride of rare white lions.

But the reserve has also achieved acclaim over the years as a wedding venue, none more so than recently when a prestigious publication surveyed newlyweds married within the year to November 2017.

Inkwenkwezi won the Wedding & Function magazine’s Top Service Provider Award for Outdoor Ceremony (On-Site).

The reserve was also voted in by happy brides themselves as a finalist in seven further categories: venue; co-ordinators (venue); catering (in-house); bar service (in-house); draping hire (venue); honeymoon; and first-night accommodation.

Over the years, hundreds of brides and grooms have chosen the unusual and picturesque surroundings of Inkwenkwezi in which to start their lives together, marrying in a beautifully adorned chapel before moving into the main building for a perfectly catered celebratory reception.

Whether the couple chooses to spend one night or several honeymooning in the reserve’s luxury accommodation, they are also able to enjoy an exciting inclusive game drive.

Compliments have flowed to the co-ordinating team who magically turn the rustic 300-seater venue into a wonderland of bridal beauty. Everything is taken care of for the bridal couple – from the chapel for the wedding ceremony, to the welcoming drinks and everything that follows, to dance the night away or just to enjoy a nuptial feast.

Inkwenkwezi’s co-ordinating team are also happy to recommend photographers, DJs, wedding cake specialists, as well as companies that specialise in unusual decor. Whatever the requirements, the team goes to extreme lengths to ensure the bridal couple’s special day is as magical as they deserve.

Today, though, there is an extra-special surprise awaiting one very lucky bride. We urge anyone planning to marry to check our advertisement on this page because there is a very special prize offered to one couple – a free seven-day honeymoon at Inkwenkwezi that’s worth an incredible R33,250!

Of course the reserve itself, a finalist in the Lilizela Tourism Awards, also has other claims to fame – especially its pride of white lions.

Game drives in open-air Land Rovers are offered to see a wide variety of animals, including the big five, giraffe and zebra. Visitors are also treated to elephant educationals where they can get close to the giant pachyderms and find out all about them. Guided walks in the reserve, quad bike riding, canoeing and bird-watching are other attractive options.

Inkwenkwezi straddles five different regional biomes and has a tidal saltwater estuary within the reserve. In one of these biomes is an Umtiza forest (in excess of 300 trees), one of only two large populations in SA.

Bird-watchers have identified 286 species of birds on the reserve and recently there was excitement among lepidopterists over the discovery of a very rare species of moth, called the Veniliodes setinata. Inkwenkwezi is one of two known places in SA where they have been documented.

Inkwenkwezi is appropriately dubbed “The place of African legends”. It has a long history of providing people with what their hearts’ desire – from exciting safaris to the most romantic of settings for weddings; from a venue for exclusive conferences to an open invitation on Sundays for delicious carvery buffet lunches, as well as to its now-famous Wednesday monster hamburger nights which also boast a full a la carte menu.
