PNP ORGANISES BLANKET DRIVE

Donate clothing and blankets for worthy causes

- MATTHEW FIELD

Pick n Pay is calling on South Africans to help those in need by donating to their clothing and blanket drive, which runs until midOctober.

The drive is run in partnership with Operation Smile SA, the SOS Children s

Villages and Rays of Hope. Every three minutes, a child

is born with a cleft lip, cleft palate or both.

This statistic doesn t

“’

change, even during a global pandemic,” Operation Smile country manager Lauren Bright said.

Pick n Pay transformation director Suzanne Ackerman

Berman said the drive was their way of giving back.

Many South Africans are

experiencing hardship and by creating partnerships such as this, we can collectively make a greater difference in communities,” she said.

For the charity drive, collection bins will be placed outside 45 Pick n Pay stores across the country.

In East London, the bin will be placed outside PnP Clothing in Vincent Park.

Shoppers can then drop off any pre-loved blankets or children s clothes.

Alternatively, shoppers can make a direct donation to Operation Smile by scanning the Snap Scan or Zapper code at participating stores. Donations will be collected by DHL Supply Chain and DHL Express, which has also partnered up to help with the campaigh.

As part of our global drive

“to give back to local communities, DHL actively embraces its social responsibility efforts throughout South Africa,” said DHL Supply Chain communications, marketing and CSI lead for Africa Jarryd Pretorius.

With many vulnerable children and disadvantaged families currently in need during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are excited to join forces to support this initiative by providing the logistics needs required,” Pretorius said.
