● April 4-9: the Logos Hope Ship will be at the East London Port at the Westbank Old Shipyard. The vessel holds 5,000 books on various subjects, with large Christian and children’s sections.

FRIDAY

● St Andrews Croquet Club will be playing at the Comrades Bowling Club in Selborne. Play begins at 1.45pm every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. Mallets are available. Inquiries: Contact Barry on 083-561-0335.

● April 6: The Gonubie Lions Club Charity Craft Market in aid of Greensleev­es Children’s Home will be held at King’s Mall from 9am-1pm, at which delicious home-baked eats, homemade items that will make lovely gifts, beautiful adult and children’s clothing, plants and more will be on sale. All items are made with much love by residents and are reasonably priced.

● The Border Historical Society’s scheduled talk for April (in associatio­n with the Friends of the East London Museum), will be presented by Mike Kenyon. His talk is titled The Cape Qualified Franchise and Land Rights in the Eastern Cape, 1872-1910. It will be held at 10am in the Museum Classroom (first floor of the museum).

MONDAY

● April 8: The Beacon Bay Ratepayers & Civic Associatio­n meeting will be held at the Bonza Bay Bowling Club, starting from 6pm. The speaker will be councillor Vaughn Holmes.
