Alida and Christine have the following advice for people who’d like to earn some money making soap:

• Soap-making is a science, but also a creative outlet. Things sometimes go wrong, especially in the beginning. You have to be willing to make a lot of mistakes and then try again. Fail forward, as they say.

• Soap-making is hard physical work. Yes, of course you have to have a passion for it, but it’s drive and perseverance that will get you through.

• Do proper research – not just about the soap-making process but also about your market, what it does and doesn’t want, who your competition is, and how you’ll market your products.

• Do everything in your power never to disappoint or fail your customers.
