Plan your vegetable garden online

Jane Griffiths, author of Jane’s Delicious Garden, offers a handy online vegetablegarden planner specifically for South Africa.

Enter your area code so that the climate in your part of the world can be taken into account. Then type in the length and width of your garden, divide it into beds, create paths and place containers where required. Next, choose from more than 130 vegetables, fruits and herbs and “plant” them. The planner adjusts plant widths and calculates the number of plants that will grow optimally in a patch of soil. You can print your plan along with a plant chart indicating which months are best for sowing, planting and harvesting. Price Free for the first month, after which you can subscribe for R270 per year.
