Bats and rabies

-

Bats are carriers of the rabies virus, but the only way it can be transferred to humans is through a bite or a scratch. (The bat’s saliva would need to come into contact with the human’s mucous membranes.) The rabies virus cannot be caught by having a bat “fly into your hair”, or from merely touching a bat or bat guano.
