The Autumn 2018 issue of Platteland was so jampacked with information we didn’t have enough space to fill readers in on the new accommodation offered by Jaco Brand, who was pictured in the lush permaculture garden on the cover of that issue at his guest farm, Picardi Place. Apart from four en-suite rooms in his guesthouse, a stone’s throw from Rawsonville, a free-standing open-plan self-catering cottage is now available on the property. Camomile Cottage sleeps two guests or more (there are options for a second double bed in a separate bedroom or extra single beds in the roof space), and has spacious bathrooms, private outdoor showers and basic tea-andcoffee and refrigeration facilities. Just as impressive is the view over the Boland mountains and vineyards, as well as Jaco’s home-cooked meals made with a number of ingredients harvested from his garden (he also offers pasta-making courses on demand). If you want to experience true hospitality and an authentic garden-totable philosophy, this is the place to stay.
