The Au­tumn 2018 is­sue of Plat­te­land was so jam­packed with in­for­ma­tion we didn’t have enough space to fill read­ers in on the new ac­com­mo­da­tion of­fered by Jaco Brand, who was pic­tured in the lush per­ma­cul­ture gar­den on the cover of that is­sue at his guest farm, Pi­cardi Place. Apart from four en-suite rooms in his guest­house, a stone’s throw from Raw­sonville, a free-stand­ing open-plan self-cater­ing cot­tage is now avail­able on the prop­erty. Camomile Cot­tage sleeps two guests or more (there are op­tions for a sec­ond dou­ble bed in a sep­a­rate bed­room or ex­tra sin­gle beds in the roof space), and has spa­cious bath­rooms, pri­vate outdoor show­ers and ba­sic tea-and­cof­fee and re­frig­er­a­tion fa­cil­i­ties. Just as im­pres­sive is the view over the Boland moun­tains and vine­yards, as well as Jaco’s home-cooked meals made with a num­ber of in­gre­di­ents har­vested from his gar­den (he also of­fers pasta-mak­ing cour­ses on de­mand). If you want to ex­pe­ri­ence true hos­pi­tal­ity and an au­then­tic gar­den-totable phi­los­o­phy, this is the place to stay.
