A clean slate

When farmers start to prepare for planting season, the previous season’s stubble has to be eliminated. Various methods are used, but here an old tyre has been set alight and is being drawn behind a tractor so that the brush catches fire. This means the Swartland turns even blacker for a while, and columns of smoke are a common sight.
