I would like to comment on the article about the Laingsburg flood in go! # 139, written by Sophia van Taak. It’s a wonderful piece of journalism, thoroughly researched and accompanied by great photographs. But most importantly, it’s so compassionate in tone. At the time of the flood I was a 13-year-old schoolgirl. A close friend of my mother’s had just moved to Laingsburg to take up a teaching post there. She was swept away in the flood and never found.
