Church’s Holiday Club a resounding success
GRAAFF-REINET — The Assembly Church in Graaff-reinet ran their annual Holiday Club programme last week, and it was a huge success!
They were expecting this to be their biggest Holiday Club so far, and it certainly was.
They have grown from 79 children attending the first Holiday Club in 2015, to 103 children last year, to this year where they had an incredible 159 children from Grade R to Grade 7 attending the programme.
This year’s theme for Holiday Club was based on the Dreamworks animated movie, Home.
Through movie clips, worship, large-group teaching, small groups, games, and outdoor activities, the children were encouraged to trust God in their lives.
Each day had a brief and memorable point that children were left with, which included, “You are not alone”, “You are unique”, “Love each other”, and “Family matters”.
As we have come to expect, the Holiday Club programme was carried out with a high level of excellence, attention to detail, and inclusivity.
Dolan and Sara Cochrane, the lead pastors of The Assembly Church, would like to extend a public and heartfelt “thank you” to the NG Grootkerk for the use of the Te Water Saal, as well as to Laer Volkskool for allowing them the use of their sports fields again this year.
They also expressed their sincere gratitude towards the parents of the children that attended this year’s Holiday Club for their growing confidence and trust in the leaders and volunteers that served their children last week.
For those parents that are looking for a place for their primary school children to have fun, make friends, and learn about God, The Assembly Church offers a great programme, called Ignite for Grade 5 to 7 children.
The programme is run at the church from 15:00 to 17:00 on Friday afternoons during the school term.
On Sunday mornings they have Assembly Kids, which is well-run “kids church” for children from 3-years-old up to Grade 7.
Assembly Kids runs at the same time as their Sunday morning services, which are at 08:30 and 10:00.
